Ver las estrellas = to see stars*

To be in pain after hitting yourself with something.

Usually, it is the result of an accident and it refers to the fact that you may see flashes of  light as a result of the impact.
"Se dio un golpe que le hizo ver las estrellas" .
"Al chocar con el cristal, vio las estrellas".

Modal Verbs: A-Levels (Bachillerato)

Hello class!

The first video you will have to watch is the presentation of MODAL VERBS: What are they and how they are used in sentences. Pay special attention:
As you have already seen in the video and just like you studied last year, modal verbs can express different meanings. Even the same modal verb can mean differen things! I will post now a very short video lessons to illustrate that:
Modal Verbs can be used in their PERFECT FORM, which includes the following structure:
S + MODAL + HAVE + V3 (past participle) + COMPLEMENTS. This funny guy will explain much better than me :D

Finally, to help you out with a different point of view, I will post a presentation where modals are grouped by their meaning. Right after, you will find links to practice all the grammar you have been studying.

Contrast 1 Links: "Between Us"

"Between Us" is the name of unit 4 in my AS level students' book. It deals with relationships with people, either romantic, friendly or family-based. Given that 14th February is round the corner, we will set on the mood by reading about and listening to two amazing love stories.
READING: BBC News article Happy Ending for love letter pair. A true story.
LISTENINGYoutube video (with subtitles in Spanish) in which we are told how old Fred Stobaugh wrote such a sensitive letter to her wife, who had just passed away, that the moving words turned into the lyrics of the song "Oh Sweet Lorraine". Green Shoe studios were looking for a good songwriter. They definitely didn't get the singer out of Fred, but made the most out of his writing. Enjoy his story.
