II Exchange The Sir John - Santa Catalina

Dear Families hosting students from Santa Catalina School,

This is a message to thank you ALL for your participation in this year's exchange. We had already experienced the local hospitality, but we feel we need to write to express how grateful and lucky we are to have had you as host families. My students have returned to Spain with the feeling they left behind real parents and brothers/sisters and are looking forward to their partners' visit to Spain. They had a fabulous time, enjoyed the activities and above all they felt like at home. They miss you loads and speak volumes of you. As a group leader, I have to say that I could happily see great connection between you and the kids and I especially want to thank you for trying so hard to make them feel comfortable. They had caring and warm families to look after them. Let me make a special mention to Richard, Amanda and George for their preocupation, extreme kindness, great help and incredible support to deal with Alvaro's incident. I want to thank them in the name of the School, the family and my own. I couldn't ask for more!
Leaving that aside, I am sure it was a good (and exhausting!) experience for you all and ,hopefully, we will be able to continue this lovely project together in the future. I would like to put a special emphasis in the fact that involving families in this type of activities made the whole project much more special, interesting, enriching and worth it.
I find it hard to express with words our gratefulness.... Rest assure you were absolutely fantastic and made a strong impression on us all. A big THANK YOU! ¡GRACIAS!
Looking forward to your visit in Spain!!!!
You can have a look at the pictures taken during our stay on the link under the exchange heading on the left menu.

The HHS visits Santa Catalina!!!

It was high time I wrote a post about the special visit we enjoyed last 20th March for some days. Eight German students came to our school to work on a digital project carried out by the German Art teachers Sabina and Bernd. The project consisted on adapting digitally, using gimp, a celebrity face so that it fitted to the student in question. I personally tried to be Arwen from Lord of the Rings, but no chance I could come up to her standard.... All students, both Spanish and German, have treasured the experience as a special activity in which they have not only improved their English skills, but also their social skills making new friends, learning from such a beautiful cultural exchange and have also learnt about their heritage with a view to transmit it to the visitors. Our guests participated in our Book Day celebrations hosting Gerome and Alessandra, who perfomed on a stage with two songs, as special guests in the show. I would like to publically thank Lorena and Carlos for their WONDERFUL performance in the adapted play from Shakespeare "Romeo and Juliet". I was soooo proud of you! People loved it and you deserved the audience ovation! Thanks to Andrés too!, of course.
Fianlly, We also made a visit to our beloved Alhambra. Hope you like the pictures and send me more to enlarge the album! Click on the title link.

Visit to Dreieich (Germany) due to our Comenius Project

Last 28th January three students from school: Isabel Salazar, Isabel María Herrera and Mª Paz Siles participated in the second mobility of our Comenius Project "Identity" (You can see pics on your left menu). This trip was to show the materials we have been working on along the first term to our European colleagues and we can be very happy of our results. They all show our dedication and interest in the subject. Thank you all for your work. Very soon, you will be able to see those results in the project's web, which has recently been launched. It is OUR web and we will fill it with those projects and much more very soon. We also had time to have some fun and we visited Heidelberg and Frankfurt. For those who are thinking in working for the project, don't think twice and get fun out of work!!!

My students from ESO2A presented a Fashion Calendar.
