Everything historic is historical, but not everything historical is historic. To be Historic, the event or thing we are referring to must be important, have made history, apart from merely having taken place.

ROB vs STEAL

Hi there! Are these two verbs confusing for you? No wonder!! Some people are taught "funny" stories like "Rob" is used for expensive articles and "Steal" for cheap ones. 

I hope this rule will help you out: 

• STEAL is used + the stolen OBJECT
• ROB is used + the PERSON or INSTITUION victim of the theft.

In short, the rule is dead easy: You steal things and rob people!!!

You can say "Mary stole my pen", but never say "Mary stole me"***

They are two thieves
stealing some money from the bank.
They robbed the bank at night.

 

COUNTABILITY: THERE IS & THERE ARE (ELEMENTARY LEVEL)
