Youtube Links for Advanced Students
In this new post for advanced students, I am delighted to share this deep and thought-provocking interview that I watched some years ago, but rest assure that the content is still valid. I am copying the description of the video according to "unfiltered with James O'brien", quite a channel to suscribe to indeed.
"Rapper, poet and scholar Akala joins James O’Brien for a scintillating interview, in which they discuss two issues that run to the heart of modern Britain: race and class.
In a breakneck hour of conversation, Akala picks apart many of the modern myths around gangs, street violence and black youth, looking at the ways these are perpetuated in the media and who benefits from perpetuating them, as well as looking back to the Windrush generation and the institutionalised injustices that led to the recent crisis. It’s an education."

Historic or Historical?
Everything historic is historical, but not everything historical is historic.
To be Historic, the event or thing we are referring to must be important, have made history, apart from merely having taken place.

ROB vs STEAL
Hi there! Are these two verbs confusing for you? No wonder!! Some people are taught "funny" stories like "Rob" is used for expensive articles and "Steal" for cheap ones.
I hope this rule will help you out:
- STEAL is used + the stolen OBJECT
- ROB is used + the PERSON or INSTITUION victim of the theft.
In short, the rule is dead easy: You steal things and rob people!!!
You can say "Mary stole my pen", but never say "Mary stole me"***
