"TOP TEN THINGS" PROJECT (Remedial Lesson)

We are going to start a brand new Project to promote the School's Area in a MP4 format. Students will have to create a Promo Video focusing on:
  • local delis and drinks that visitors can enjoy in the area.
  • Top places or activities that cannot to be missed  by visitors.
Students will use their creativity to include both an appropriate intro and end to this video, so that different skills can be evaluated. They can target travellers on a budget, rural tourists, Heritage and History lovers...There is no limit to their possibilities.

Linguistic Area Awards

Recently, we have awarded our most gifted students with MFL as well as their mother tongue in a really gorgeous ceremony inside our little and cozy library. Everything was beautifully arranged with some freshly cut flowers decorating such a memorable moment.
The Head of the Area, Miss García conducted the brief event along with Miss Arcalá, who proudly and happily gave out all the presents and diplomas to our students.
Happy to pose, let me share a picture with my awarded and delighted students of Year 8 and Year 9. Elena Vega got the first prizes in Love Tweet category (both in Spanish and English), while Mercedes Marchal, Lorena Morales and Lara Ballesteros got special mentions in that category too. On the other hand, Lara Ballesteros also obtained a special mention for her Calligram in French. Unfortunately, she could not attend the awards' ceremony and missed the group picture.

AROUND THE WORLD!

Although still with many parts of the world enduring some kind of lockdown or restrictions, ESO1 is resolved to travel the world no matter what and here I am, trying to help. They will collect some information in a world map about those countries they are interested in explaining some key geographical features as well as the weather. Basically, they are trying to help out for a wise choice and enjoyment for future travellers, whenever that may be possible. You can comment and like their posts.

Imaginary Land IV Edition

It's been done before and WE LOVE IT. Using a collaborative and cooperative methodology, students will design their own country from scratch with the following info:
Passage Way to South Seas by
1. Front Page: Name of the country and flag
2. Back page: Members of the Project
3. Index of contents:
3.1. Description of the country
3.2. Description of the capital city
3.3. Map including distinctive geographical aspects
 3.4. Flora and Fauna
 3.5. LAWS
This project is the perfect excuse to start a debate about the importance of a constitution, moving to ours in particular. Also, we will reflect not only on people's rights in general, but also on a personal level, including duties and responsibilities. Key aspects such as monarchy, presidency, religion and police forces will be questioned to be present or absent in each group's proposal.

This is Britain Project: Final Products.

"This is Britain" is a creative, fun-filled collaborative and cooperative project that includes research, reading, speaking and much more! I am pleased to present the final products here: leporellos about each contry. Students did a brief oral presentation and were tested with flashcards about the flags, symbols and main aspects of the countries. I would like to thank my workmate Rafa Vílchez and his PMAR students for joining us in this project :D

Nelson Mandela and The Apartheid

After studying in class the Apartheid in South Africa, students are invited to learn more on the subject through the life of  Nelson Mandela, the first black president. His active role in order to get over with an unfair racist system made him win the Nobel Prize in 1993 as well as spend many years in prison...He left us in 2013 and will always be remembered for the good man he was.

Contrast 1 Links: "Between Us"

"Between Us" is the name of unit 4 in my AS level students' book. It deals with relationships with people, either romantic, friendly or family-based. Given that 14th February is round the corner, we will set on the mood by reading about and listening to two amazing love stories.
READING: BBC News article Happy Ending for love letter pair. A true story.
LISTENINGYoutube video (with subtitles in Spanish) in which we are told how old Fred Stobaugh wrote such a sensitive letter to her wife, who had just passed away, that the moving words turned into the lyrics of the song "Oh Sweet Lorraine". Green Shoe studios were looking for a good songwriter. They definitely didn't get the singer out of Fred, but made the most out of his writing. Enjoy his story.
